Good News. Bad News. Good News.
Good news for Arizona residents.
Arizona has temporarily suspended their expansion of the statewide photo enforcement program, which is a good thing because the Arizona red light cameras and speed cameras snapped motorists nearly 700,000 times on Arizona highways during the program’s first five months, an average of 4,400 times per day!
Bad news for New York and Maryland residents.
New York passed legislation on Tuesday to expand the number of red light cameras in New York City and to allow their use in Yonkers, Buffalo and Rochester and in Suffolk and Nassau Counties on Long Island.
The Maryland General Assembly approved the use of speed cameras throughout the state. Currently only Montgomery County uses speed cameras in Maryland.
Freedom’s not lost in one fell swoop — it’s lost one camera at a time. – Del. Michael D. Smigiel Sr. (R-Cecil). (Washington Post)
