Chicago Yellow Lights Are Shorter
Many people have suspected it for a while, but the Chicago Tribune now confirms that yellow lights in the Chicago area are actually in fact shorter than in the suburbs by 35%. This may be the one of the reasons that the city is making so much money off of the Chicago red light cameras photo enforcement program.
The Tribune reports
Most Chicago yellow lights last three seconds, the bare minimum recommended under federal safety guidelines. In the suburbs, yellows generally stay on for four to four-and-a-half seconds.
